　　過去完成時表示在過去某一時間或動作之前已經(jīng)發(fā)生或完成了的動作，即“過去的過去（ past-in-the-past ）”。

　　過去完成時由“助動詞had + 過去分詞”構(gòu)成，其中 had 通用于各種人稱。

　　例如：

　　They had already had breakfast before they arrived at the hotel.

　　他們來賓館之前就已經(jīng)吃過飯了。

　　He didn’t go to bed until he had finished he work.

　　他直到把工作做完之后才睡覺。

　　三、用法

　　1.過去完成時表示一個動作或狀態(tài)在過去某一時間或動作之前已經(jīng)完成或結(jié)束，即發(fā)生在“過去的過去”。

　　例如：

　　When I woke up, it had stopped raining.

　　我醒來時，雨已經(jīng)停了。（主句的動作發(fā)生在“過去的過去”）

　　He had left when I arrived. 當(dāng)我到達(dá)時他已經(jīng)離開。

　　2.過去完成時是一個相對的時態(tài)，表示的是“過去的過去”，只有和過去某一時間或某一動作相比較時才使用它。

　　例如：

　　She told me that she had written a new novel.

　　她告訴我她已經(jīng)寫好一本小說了。(had written 發(fā)生在 told 之前 )

　　I found the watch which I had lost. 我找到了我丟失的表。

　　3.過去完成時需要與一個表示過去的時間狀語連用，它不能離開過去時間而獨立存在。此時多與 already，yet，still，just，before，never 等時間副詞及 by，before，until 等引導(dǎo)的短語或從句連用。

　　By the end of last year, my father had worked in the factory for twenty years.

　　去年年底時，爸爸已經(jīng)在工廠工作二十年了。（ had worked 已有了 20 年，還有繼續(xù)進(jìn)行下去的可能）

　　By six o’clock he had worked eleven hours. 到6點鐘時他就已經(jīng)工作了11小時。

　　5.動詞think, want, hope, mean, plan, intend等用過去完成時來表示過去未曾實現(xiàn)的想法，希望，打算或意圖等。

　　I had wanted to help but could not get there in time.

　　They had hoped to be able to come and see you.

　　6.過去完成時還可用在hardly…when…, no sooner…than…, It was the first (second, etc) time (that)…等固定句型中。

　　2）表示由過去的某一時刻開始，一直延續(xù)到過去另一時間的動作或狀態(tài)，常和for, since構(gòu)成的時間狀語連用

　　3）過去完成時常常用在賓語從句（或間接引語）中，這時從句中的動作發(fā)生在主句表示的過去的動作之前

　　4）在包含有when, until等連詞的復(fù)合句中，如果主句謂語動詞和從句謂語動詞所表示的過去動作不是同時發(fā)生的，那么先發(fā)生的動作通常用過去完成時表示

　　和其它時態(tài)的區(qū)別過去完成時/現(xiàn)在完成時

　　現(xiàn)在完成時著眼于現(xiàn)在，強調(diào)過去發(fā)生的某動作對現(xiàn)在造成的影響和結(jié)果，或是由過去持續(xù)到現(xiàn)在的動作

　　過去完成時強調(diào)某動作在過去某時間或另一動作之前已完成

　　注意事項

       1）動詞think, want, hope, mean, plan, intend等用過去完成時來表示過去未曾實現(xiàn)的想法，希望，打算或意圖等。

　　2) 過去完成時還可用在hardly…when…, no sooner…than…, It was the first (second, etc) time (that)…等固定句型中。

　　3）It/This was +序數(shù)詞 time或最高級 that 后面的從句用過去完成時。

　　I have cleaned the classroom.

　　過去完成時則主要體現(xiàn)過去發(fā)生的兩動作的先后有別，表達(dá)的是“過去的'過去”，即比過去發(fā)生的某動作都還要“過去”，兩動作中先發(fā)生的就用過去完成時，后發(fā)生的則只用一般過去時。運用過去完成時的句子往往有兩過去的時間或動作。
